EXUMAS SHIPWRECK MYSTERY

While we were heading north toward Staniel Cay from Georgetown in the Exumas we passed a Cay with a sailboat beached on the shore. Both Captain Adam and I speculated on what it was doing there. It looked pretty intact from a distance. I thought perhaps the owner might have careened it on the beach to clean it's bottom. On our return south we anchored off a nearby Cay from where the beached boat was. I suggested that we take the dingy over to investigate. Adam was thinking the same thing. So that's what we did...

She still looked in pretty good shape no hull damage from what we could see:

She still had her sails on and the deck and cockpit were loaded with gear:

Even had several large solar panels still attached:

Water jugs and a full jug of diesel were still in deck as was the air pump for an inflatable dingy:

There was some type of registration sticker from Florida that expires on September 2015

The boats name was Cimarron with a hailing port of Marathon Florida:

Looked like a sturdy blue water boat with the wind vane steering still attached on the stern:

The hatch was open and the lock secured to the hasp:

Captain Adam climbed on board to take a look inside and make sure no one was on board.

He reported things were pretty dry inside. A lot of clothes were thrown about but, the electronics seemed to be intact. Besides radar the boat also had a SSB antenna on the rear stay. Definitely not setup for just day sails.  Still it was a mystery how it would up in this quiet Bahamian Cove in the Exumas and what happened to the person who sailed her?

Did you get a hull number or registration number?
You could check the Florida Stolen Boat database here:

Anyone who has spent anytime in Boot Key Harbor in Marathon knows this boat. Sad.

where is "captain" Ray? Anyone know? He was in jail in the keys a few weeks ago (felony). Maybe he fled the country and grounded then was taken into custody by Bahama?

According to the Marathon County clerk of the court, the felony case against Geisel was NOT droped (sic). As for droma (sic), it seems to follow Geisel like stink on a monkey. Or should I say lizard. Weapons on his boat? Why did he have them? He already did time in Federal Prison for possession a couple of years ago, he has mental issues and is forbidden to own them.

Well update Boat was given Back to Ray He has filed churges on few people for taking things off and going after every one that did not tell the truth to get this to hapen.
Bahamas Government is paying Ray Off. Ray is Doing the Boat Home.in the next month.
Allso weapons where all legal and was Given Back.
Good luck to all Give the stuff back or your boat may end up same way or in jail if lucky us FBi is charging people that took things and Ray Had A List From the Local police.
Not ray might have mental health. But he is into things you should understand He's after everyone that took his stuff and not using the law to do it.
And he's a Bounty Hunter with alot of back Round and Friends even Bahamas Government is scard of him now.
Just a heads up should not of stolen from Ray was not Good thing to Do he came to my boat with LEO and Cut what I took of my Deck with a saw in Nassau.just a heads up by way Mike he's waiting for you to go to Bahamas to have you locked up for going on the boat and taking his ssb and vhf

For the record I actually never even touched his boat and the Captain just went on board to make sure that no one was injured or dead inside. He actually only looked down the wide open hatch and never entered the boat. Several witnesses were there too. We only stopped to make sure no one was on board that might need help. Nothing was ever taken off the boat and it was left as is.

Discovered this boat today whilst out and about in Black Point. It's full of water from what I could see and it looks like anything that was on deck is no longer there.
Thanks to the person who originally posted this, my curiosity has been satisfied having read the above comments!
